Rock ’n’ roll has died, decomposed, been exhumed and reanimated in monstrous form by Oh Sees. The ongoing project of SF-to-LA mastermind John Dwyer is a juggernaut of sound, which currently consists of Dwyer’s frantic guitar and manic yelp, plus a bassist and two competing drummers (the lineup has shifted dramatically over the years, with Dwyer and maximum volume the only through-lines). While their latest record, the just-released Orc, finds the band downshifting into the occasional woozy dirge, it mostly explodes just like its predecessors, which date back to the late ’90s. Live, this band is certifiably dangerous. Purchase tickets here.
